Assistant Director, Policy and Corporate Up to £75k
Few roles place you at the centre of the people and place agendas in the way that this outstanding career opportunity does. It presents a unique strategic perspective, and will suit an individual with the breadth of perspective to see how people and place services can work together to deliver sustainable outcomes.
With a portfolio that spans Finance, HR, ICT, Communications, Housing, Economic Strategy and Planning, this is a role that demands a versatile and confident leader. You’ll be someone who can engage across different audiences and identify links across our organisation.
You’ll work closely with subject experts, coaching and enabling them to lead high performing teams, and a consistency of approach throughout the Council. You’ll support staff in adapting to new ways of working, ensuring all understand the direction of travel and how their role fits. You’ll also fulfil a client role on a number of the Council’s new commercial initiatives.
The breadth of this role means that we don’t have a prescriptive view on your professional background - you won’t have experience in all these areas. But you will have the intellectual capacity and curiosity to ask questions around how things are done, and the commercial and analytical insight to spot opportunities for improvement.
